Although I prefer monetization that is strictly cosmetic, I cannot fault them for taking advantage of a community that supports this with their money. With that being said i'm one hundred percent open to change but it isn't going to change by simply me backing out of spending money

I've thoroughly enjoyed this game and its raids since release. However, my enjoyment began to wane with the arrival of Akkan. The raid itself was fun, but the gear honing process was a dreadful, unenjoyable experience. A success rate of .86 per armor gear level is atrocious. Four-man raids have always been my favorite, so I particularly enjoyed Kayangel and Voldis. Yet, my feelings toward the game shifted from pleasure to displeasure when they introduced the new vertical progression systems: elixirs and transcendence. I can't express how much I loathed the elixir process, to the extent that I decided never to engage with it again on any of my characters, and the same goes for transcendence. In my opinion, it's not worth my time or resources to progress further in the game just to see the endgame content. It feels like paying an overpriced entry fee for a mediocre concert that's too long and offers nothing new to excite me. I greatly prefer vertical gear upgrades like those in Clown and Kayangel, where you collect materials, take them to a vendor, pay a fixed price, and your armor is upgraded. This system makes me feel that my time spent in the game is respected and rewarded. The new vertical progression systems of elixirs and transcendence should be completely removed. I plan to stick with tier 3 content for now and wait to see if they introduce any quality of life changes that could make the game enjoyable for me once again.

its an easten asian culture. p2w games have been popular for decades since 1990s. Since Asian people started to get rich too fast after cold war, they dont have a good way to spend their wealth and get satisfaction from it. Drug are not as popular as it in the west, and people are not used to handle their sudden wealth. So spending money in games gives people a good way to gain emotional feedbacks.

I think the best example of a pure money sink is the card packs from the store. It’s $50 to maybe get a chance at a single card. I bought one pack since have LOS30 is a requirement and I instantly regretted it. It’s one of the only times I’ve felt bent over when buying something.

Love it, you keep it real, every LA whiteknight should see this and think at least once. It is always absurd to see people defending SG/AGS and bashing anyone who want a bit easier time in LA by elevating homework, giving more gold for endless grind, increasing chances in slot machine systems etc. Those dickeaters (that is not insult, but professional term patented by Asmongold) are just making game worse for everyone by giving justification to SG/AGS instead of pushing them as one community.

Many people in the West like to act as if it is only the Eastern developed games that are like this, while the Western ones are just sooo much better, they're not. Western games are built around a Western market, while Eastern games are developed around their specific Eastern markets. Since pay to win is just a matter of when the pay advantages of a game feel more significant than you care for, that means it's all subjective. Eastern games tend to feel worse to a typical Western player, as they're different from the Eastern market player they were built around, for whom they do not feel as bad, and it's the same sort of idea when talking about Western developed games. Although even if it doesn't feel as bad to you, it doesn't mean there aren't still pay advantages, and to others, those could feel far worse. I've found among the vocal Western players they tend to have no value for time, but don't want to spend a penny of their own money, this is why so many excuse the horrible profit model of Warframe. In Warfarm the basic progression loop is farm materials, use it to craft new equipment, level it up to gain account XP, then when your account level increases, it unlocks new stuff to craft, and the cycle just keeps repeating. Here's the thing, you can use real money to expand the pathetically insignificant amount of storage space you're provided with, use real money to get your equipment, or the materials used to make it, use real money to reduce the crafting time from upwards of almost a week, it completed instantly, and use real money to increase your rate of gains by double, or triple the normal rate when levelling your new gear. Objectively, when one looks at that, it clearly shows that the pay advantages in the game are massive, although since players can trade their in-game items, for the cash shop currency of other players looking to skip the long tedious grind it was designed with, people claim it's great, as they can get everything without spending their own money. News flash, it doesn't matter if you had to spend your own money, or not, if it costs real money, or a real money equivalent, it's still a freaking pay advantage! The problem is how companies in whatever region, and for whatever platform, elect to use the free to play profit model, as they at least almost always work by stripping things out of a game, then selling them back to the player.

The issue I have with monetization in Lost Ark specifically is that just feels "bad". If I spend $100 I will get very little if any power/vertical progression. I do spend money on the Ark Pass as it feels "worth it" to me with a variety of rewards. One Sideral Energy drop is equivalent to about $750 when buying royal crystals (might be way more or a little less, but that is what I see from NAE). Just feels bad.

They just have way too many vertical/horizontal progression systems. Im trying to get into the game and I’ve been putting a ton of time in. I got DD18, a lvl 59 main at 1605 and a couple of alts just north of 1540. But the insane gold sink of just honing, then trying to get my LOS 30/DD30, all my skill points, my gems, leveling still (which takes forever for how important it is), runes. Like there is so much prep to just get accepted into a group and then you had two more systems that are just as grindy with elixirs/transcendence. They really need to stop making the barrier for entry so high just to play the game.

You cannot put elixirs at 3 and transc at 1 lmao either both 1 or elixirs -1.

I finally tried transcendens yesterday for the first time. Took fucking hours to get lvl 2 on 4 pieces. Lost so much fucking gold too.

TLDR game is bad.

The way you get relic sets was probably the most comfortable progression system, but the set effects themselves are complete dogshit. Yearning is unhealthy for the game to a degree that classes can't function without it. Entropy sucks so much donkey balls even the devs want to remove it. You either run Nightmare to cycle or run Boundless, which exist in the same game as supports that inconsistently fuck with your mana regen. Makes people want to play with summoner even less. Dominion is aids to use. Hallu and Salvation are the same shit that has 0 impact on gameplay but give stats. Betrayal exists for CD. I'd be surprised if people could even name the other 2, they are that irrelevant. Really looking forward to T4 options instead of this.

The gold sink is way too aggressive. Just the basic honing alone costs so much gold. I get that they want to make money but here in the west all that will do is make people RMT thru 3rd party website. Only Korean and Chinese player base as a whole are crazy enough to buy all that gold legitimately. Even in Japan it didn't work. It's certainly not going to fly here in the west. So just stop it!

I think the perception behind Trans is that most people have only done it for their main and some only 1-3. Once you do your full Trans on main and start doing it on alts, thats when it starts to suck.
